Located at the entrance of the traditional village of Asteri (meaning ‘star’ in Greek), 3 km from the nearest beach of Stavromenos village and 14 km east of Rethymnon, lies our homonymous and heavenly, Asteri Villa. Originally built in 1955, this two-level villa offers an amazing accommodation experience, with interiors of traditional elegance paired up with modern day functionality while the exteriors promise leisure and relaxation without restrictions.
The initial stone build was used as a family manor dwelling and carpentry workshop until the beginning of the 1980’s. Maintaining its traditional character, the villa boasts original stone walls throughout and some unique pieces of decor that reveal it’s authentic past.
The cozy corner fireplace, one-of-a-kind furniture such as hand-crafted wooden sofas, authentic carpenter tools and other tricks of the trade are proudly displayed around the villa, highlighting its intriguing history. Fitted out with all the modern day comforts and ample recreational space outdoors, including a large infinity swimming pool and shaded pergola, Asteri Villa truly personifies the riveting sense of old-meets-new. Asteri, Rethymno
Everything was as expected, and the guest was very friendly and discrete.
Large and beautiful house with all facilities. Unabashed and quiet place where we all enjoyed ourselves. Friendly and pleasant host who always responded quickly and was helpful. A perfect holiday for me and my family.
We stayed in Villa Asteri for 2 weeks and it was fantastic!The villa is clean and spacious and all the rooms have an en suite apart from one of the downstairs bedrooms which had a separate bathroom. The kitchen could be a little better stocked, there was no toaster and there wasn't an espresso machine as described in the information but these are small things. No pool table either which was disappointing. There is great air conditioning in all the rooms. But the jewel in the crown of this villa is the outside space. The general consensus from our party was that the pool was the nicest we have ever used. It was big, clean and well maintained. The BBQ and pizza oven are both great and great fun was had making pizzas! The area is quiet and away from the coast up in the hills which means it is slightly cooler in the evenings which is wonderful! There are two fantastic restaurants within walking distance and a shop a short drive away. All in all a fantastic place to stay and we'll be back!
This was an incredible place. Photos just hint at how amazing the property is. My family of five were very comfortable, each having lots of space to gather or find quiet nooks. The little town of Asteri is wonderful and the host was very helpful. Thank you for a memorable stay.
We had the most blissful Christmas holiday. Plenty of space for 7 adults. Kitchen well stocked for cooking and the outside grill and pizza oven meant we had some very special meals. Great access to amazing Crete sites - lots of gorges, wineries as well as the culture you can fit in. Rethymno close by with a great Thursday market plus good supermarkets as well as the lovely old town (fort closed sadly).

A magnificent house, well equipped, clean and quiet. The bedding is impeccable and comfortable. Sheets, towels, trash cans changed in the middle of the stay. Two very good restaurants within a 5-minute walk.

The villa is in very good condition, clean, and decorated in a rustic and traditional style. All the rooms are pleasant and we had a perfect experience.
The villa was perfect for our purpose, a peaceful family holiday with small kids. The location is relatively remote and totally authentic, untouched by soul less tourism. The house itself is an architectural gem, and the back garden and pool area beautifully landscaped. I would buy this place if I could!
Nice, spacious and very well equipped villa. A vehicle is essential to explore the area. However, there are very good restaurants to do on foot near the villa. We had a pleasant stay there. Our host was very responsive in resolving some logistical problems. We recommend this villa for a pleasant stay in Crete.
Wow. Simply wow. What a beautiful villa. A beautiful location in the village of Asteri, with a lovely traditional Greek restaurant around the corner. All rooms were well cooled during these hot weeks.
The outdoor grill by the fantastic pool was used with love and Argyris was a great help. The villa was cleaned well in between, and he was very helpful.
We look back as a family with great pleasure on our time here and cannot recommend this villa enough!
